VENTILATION & AIR-CONDITIONING
One of the most vital yet neglected areas of the working environment. Ventilation is a health factor that cannot be overvalued.
Ventilation levels are governed by law. Have you ever considered the amount of CO2 (Carbon dioxide) in the air you breathe while at work? Very few people do. But you may have noticed, from time to time, that drowsiness or even headaches, are fairly common in people around you, if not yourself. This is the most obvious manifestation of bad ventilation. You can only guess at its effect on the overall efficiency of staff in their daily work. (The Americans put it as high as a negative 40%)! Whilst not actually life threatening, it is most certainly expensive in both health and efficiency.

Natural ventilation is, of course, the least expensive. In winter, however, this is not the easiest solution so some form of forced ventilation normally becomes necessary. In well heated areas, high-level fans forcing deflected outside air into an area or extracting foul air to the outside, is one way. On the other hand, such fans, running at a minimum of 10 air changes an hour - and usually double that - are noisy and inefficient, not to mention unsightly.

In any event, good ventilation saves money.

Many buildings today incorporate a ventilation system that provides ducted clean and filtered air from a safe, external location to key areas around the inside space and a balanced extraction/recirculatory system to complete the process. It is a small step from there to incorporating heating and then cooling - in some cases even humidifying and dehumidifying (plenum) - systems to keep the comfort levels at optimum. These are generally split systems with separate heating and cooling circuits. (See bottom of page)

Ceiling Mounted
However, you may not be so lucky...! Yours may be an older building with minimum facilities for ventilation of any kind.  Britefox Limited can help. We have the people and the know-how and can help with everything to do with ventilation and air-conditioning. From sophisticated roof or basement mounted plenum systems with over-ceiling ducting and localised/remote controls in each room, to single, plug-in freestanding units.
The latter is becoming very popular for both flexibility and price. For the average sized single office they have proven ideal. They are silent - almost soundless - economical and may combine heating with pumped condensate (no emptying) while remaining entirely portable.

Britefox Limited can help you decide.

Split system air-conditioning describes air-conditioners that have been split into an outdoor unit and an indoor unit,  separating the hot and cold components of the system which are then connected by refrigerant tubing. The indoor unit typically consists of the evaporator coil air handler. This is where the air is cooled and distributed into the occupied areas. The outdoor unit consists of the compressor and condenser where the heat is vented from the building and the refrigerant is cycled back through the system. Split system air conditioning can range in size from large commercial roof top plants to smaller residential systems used for cooling the home.
